Anchored in Gratitude—A Beautiful Beginning in Our New Space

Hello Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community!

We are writing to share about our First Few Days in the New Location—And What Comes Next!

We’ve officially "dropped anchor" in our new home inside Frank’s Bargain Center—and wow, what a warm and wonderful welcome you’ve given us!

These first several days have been filled with connection, laughter, creativity, and a sense of belonging that reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you for walking through our doors, whether to take a class, say hello, browse the new setup, or simply check out what’s new.

Your support has been the thread stitching this big transition into something truly beautiful.

Here’s What’s New:

  • We are now OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK!
    • Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm
    • Sunday 11am-4pm
  • BERNINA and bernette machines are HERE! Stop in and take one for a test drive! We have floor models set up and are ready to share the magic!
  • OPEN SEW IS BACK!!!! Tomorrow, Thursday, June 5 will be our very first open sew in the new space!!! After that EVERY Thursday, and we have added some weekend dates to each month!
  • Classes are underway and filling up fast! From pillowcases to bags, to quilts and scrubs, the summer calendar is packed with opportunities to learn, play, and create together. Check it all out HERE!

  • Quilts of Valor Kit Cutting Days June 22 and/or June 23: Help us put all of the wonderful donated fabrics into ready to go kits for the retreat! This is an opportunity to help our efforts to show love to our Veterans, even if you can't make it to the retreat! Some folks who helped with these days last time ended up taking a kit (or two) home to make and bring back! Register for FREE HERE!
  • Quilts of Valor Retreat (June 27–29): We’re getting ready to sew up a storm for our veterans! There’s still time to sign up or donate fabric—let’s fill the room with kindness and color. You can register for the event evevn if you can't stay for all three days! Register for FREE HERE!

  • The Farmer’s Market on Saturdays is right ourside our doors! Grab some local goodies, then swing in for inspiration (and maybe a new project to bring home).

  • Sassy Sunflower Half Pack Kits—Now Online! We’ve begun adding our exclusive kits to the website, and we’re thinking of making Sassy Saturday Drops a weekly tradition. Keep an eye out for fresh bundles every week—you never know which color combo might spark your next masterpiece! Check out what we've posted so far HERE!

Next week's classes:

Monday, June 9: Make it Merry Monday BOM Sew Along: ONLY 1 SPOT LEFT!!!

Golden Anchor Quilting is excited to offer a six-month Sew Together Series for the Make It Merry Block of the Month quilt by J. Wecker Frisch!
Instead of stitching alone, join us one Monday each month to work on your quilt with community support, light guidance, and lots of good cheer.

This is a sew together, not a formal class — designed to keep you inspired, accountable, and making steady progress on your beautiful Make It Merry quilt!

Important Note:

  • Kits and patterns are available separately at Frank’s Bargain Center.

  • Participation in all six sessions is encouraged to build community and keep your project moving forward, but we understand if you must occasionally miss.

Tuesday, June 10: The Big Block Quilt Featuring "LOUISA" fabric line by Clothworks 10:00am-4:00pm

Ready to make something bold, beautiful, and surprisingly beginner-friendly?
Join us at Golden Anchor Quilting to sew The Big Block Quilt by Black Cat Creations — a stunning project that delivers dramatic impact with minimal fuss. This pattern is ideal for showcasing large-scale prints, and we’ll be sewing with the elegant “Louisa” fabric line by Clothworks — a rich blend of deep purples, pale lilacs, vintage florals, and romantic textures that are sure to turn heads. Kits and patterns available at Frank's Bargain Center

Thursday, June 12: OPEN SEW!

Need a little extra space, motivation, or community while you work on your projects?
Join us for Open Sew — a casual, supportive creative time in our classroom! Bring whatever you’re working on: quilts, sewing projects, handwork, or even creative planning.
Make new friends, share ideas, and recharge your creative energy in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Details:

  • Bring your own sewing machine, or rent one of ours for $10.

  • Classroom thread, tools, and ironing stations are available for use.

  • Registration is $15 for the day — come and go as you need to during Open Sew hours.

Saturday, June 14: June Twelve Months of Gifts Class: Casserole Carrier

Create a beautiful, practical carrier for your favorite dishes — just in time for summer potlucks and gatherings!

In this session of Twelve Months of Gifts, you'll sew a padded, fold-over casserole carrier designed to hold standard 9" x 13" baking dishes. Built with durable straps that wrap around the carrier and optional insulated batting to keep food warm (or cool), this is a fun and functional project you'll love using—or gifting!

This month’s project is based on the free "DIY Casserole Carrier" pattern from SewCanShe — a wonderful resource for creative sewing inspiration! As part of our agreement with the designer, each class participant will be asked to visit her blog before class to view the pattern and help us support her creative work. (Link and reminder will be sent with your materials list.)

How You Can Support the Journey:

  • Share the news with a friend who hasn’t visited the new space yet.

  • Leave a review or post a photo of your visit—it helps others discover us. Reviews on Facebook, Google, Yelp, or any other public platform help us!

  • Keep an eye out for places online that have our old address, old hours, or old information. Let us know so we can fix it!
  • Visit Frank's Bargain Center to see the absolutely amazing transformation they have accomplished!
  • Keep showing up, sewing together, and helping this new chapter flourish.

This transition has reminded us that Golden Anchor Quilting has never been just about fabric or thread or patterns—it’s about people like you. We’re so excited to keep growing, learning, and laughing with you in our new home.

With Sew Much Gratitude,
Louisa, Darren, & the Crew at Golden Anchor Quilting
