BIG SALE with Shop Temporarily Reopening, and Recovery Update
Hello Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community,
We wanted to send you an update as we continue our recovery from the February flood.
We still don’t have a timeline for remodeling or rebuilding the damaged portions of the shop. At this point, we have no classroom, bathroom, studio, office, or storage area. The only parts of the shop that remained undamaged are the longarm room and the front portion of the former retail space.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more information about a full reopening. In the meantime, we’re thrilled to say that we are setting up in the front of the retail space for in-person shopping Thursday, April 3 - Saturday, April 5
This week our open hours will be:
- Thursday April 3 and Friday April 4: 10am to 5pm
- Saturday April 5: 11am to 4pm
We are not able to open on Sundays at this time because we don’t have a bathroom and the other shops in our part of the plaza are closed on Sundays. We will keep you posted each week with when we can be open for in-person shopping and visits.
We are still doing everything we can to make staying open possible, even with ongoing challenges. We miss classes. We miss the daily joy of seeing you all. We’re taking it one step at a time, and we’ll see how this weekend goes before making a plan for next week.
Now for something exciting:
We’re having a BIG SALE this week to help make room in our now much smaller retail space!
- Over 100 bolts of fabric have been moved to our “unfinished” space for this sale
- There are also Many Many yards of quilt shop quality, now "pre-washed" fabric
- Sale prices as low as $4/yard, with a maximum of $6/yard in the sale area (1 yard minimum cuts)
- 50% off many, many kits (both manufactured kits and shop-cut kits)
- Additional in-shop specials you’ll just have to come see for yourself!
We are also preparing to launch our BERNINA dealership and would love to get an idea of how many folks might be interested in pre-ordering. We plan to offer special pricing for new BERNINA machines shipped with our initial order. If you’d like to receive more information about pre-order specials, please reply to this email and let us know.
Darren continues to longarm quilts! Due to flood-related delays, he’s currently about 3 weeks behind original target dates on quilts checked in prior to the February 26 flood. The current turnaround time is creeping toward 9 weeks. We are working hard to bring that back down to our usual 4–6 weeks. If your quilt is already checked in and you need it sooner than later, please give us a call—we may be able to move things around with help from community members who have flexible timelines.
Sewing machine repair service is still up and running. You can drop off a machine without an appointment during the sale hours this week (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Otherwise, call to arrange a time for drop-off or pick-up.
This recovery has been longer and harder than we expected. But every message, every visit, every hug and smile has lifted our spirits. You are why we’re doing everything we can to recover and come back stronger than ever.
Although we had to postpone the Quilts of Valor retreat due to the weather, we’re celebrating the completion of at least 9 quilt tops this weekend by members of our community working independently! If you finished a top, please let us know so we can keep track—we’re still working toward our goal of 100! Our new retreat date is June 27–29 at the White River Junction VA. It’s going to be amazing and impactful. We’ll have a new registration process soon and will share it with you as soon as it’s ready.
Thank you for your continued support, your patience, and your love. This setback is still setting us up for an amazing comeback, and we’re so grateful to have you with us.
With appreciation, In Stitches,
Louisa, Darren, and the Crew at Golden Anchor Quilting
