Flood Recovery Day 13: Shop Needs to Remain Temporarily Closed

Hello Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community,

We have a difficult update to share, and we want you to hear it directly from us, with the same hope and gratitude we’ve held onto since the moment our shop flooded.

The demolition process has taken an unexpected turn. As the ServePro crew began tearing out damaged materials, they discovered hidden construction challenges that require more extensive work than they originally anticipated. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to open for in-person shopping on Tuesday as we had hoped — and right now, we don’t have a clear, realistic timeline for when we will be able to welcome you back through our doors.

We know how disappointing this is — we feel it too. Our classroom, studio, bathroom, and storage areas remain unusable, and the current state of construction has made it impossible for us to safely open the retail floor as we had planned. But we want to assure you that we are not giving up — not even close. We will get through this, and we will reopen. It’s just going to take longer than we initially hoped.

Here’s what we do know:

  • We will continue to keep you updated with any progress.
  • Our Quilts of Valor retreat at the White River Junction VA Medical Center is *still happening* March 28-30, and we are determined to make it a huge success.
  • Our hearts are still filled to the brim with gratitude for all of you.

We also know that this is not ideal for our community of quilters. We miss seeing your faces, hearing your stories, celebrating your finished projects, and creating with you in our classroom. Every single day we think about how fortunate we are to be part of a community that has shown us such overwhelming love and support during this crisis. It’s that love and support that keeps us pushing forward, even when the road gets a little longer.

We’ve been reminding ourselves daily that setbacks are just setups for comebacks — and we know our comeback is going to be incredible. We will rebuild. We will reopen. And we will gather together again, laughing, creating, and filling our hearts with the joy that only a quilting community can bring.

In the meantime, every bit of kindness keeps our spirits high and our hearts focused on the bright future ahead.

We will continue to share updates as we get them, and as soon as we know when we can safely open our doors for in-person shopping, you will be the very first to know.

Thank you for loving us through this storm — we promise you, sunshine is coming.

With deepest gratitude and hopeful hearts,

Louisa, Darren, and the Crew at Golden Anchor Quilting
