Overwhelmed with Gratitude – Flood Recovery Update
Dear Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community,
Today, we were absolutely overwhelmed (in the best way!) by the outpouring of support. We lost count of how many amazing community members showed up to help us pack up and pack out. Thanks to all of you, **mission accomplished!** The classroom, studio, office, back hallway, and bathroom are all cleared out and safely packed into the storage pod!
Help Us Document This Journey
We are beyond grateful for every moment spent helping us. Since we were so caught up in the work, we **may not remember every name and hour spent** with us today. If you were here helping, please send us an email with **your name and how many hours you contributed**—this will help us with our journaling and ensure our landlord and insurance company see the effort it’s taking to recover.
A Weekend to Regroup
Because of today’s incredible progress, we are taking Saturday and Sunday to regroup, plan, and strategize our next steps. If you had planned to come help this weekend, **hold on to those hours**—we will let you know when the next big push for help is needed.
A Glimmer of Hope
We received some mixed emotion news today about the timeline for demolition, renovation, and floor repairs. However, a community member shared an incredibly inspiring suggestion, and we now have renewed hope that we may be able to open for in-person shopping sooner than expected! It may look a little different—with a smaller retail space and adjustments—but we are hopeful!
A Special Ask – Show Some Love to Town Fair Tire
Our neighbors at Town Fair Tire have gone above and beyond this week! They’ve helped us in ways big and small—offering their bathroom, their strong backs, their adorable shop dog for puppy therapy, and constant support.
If you’d like to help this weekend or early next week, we’d love to show them some appreciation! **If you love to bake or cook, consider making something delicious for the Town Fair crew and dropping it off** as a thank-you for their kindness. And if you need any tire services, they take great care of the community tires!
More Acts of Kindness
Market Basket delivered cases of water today to keep everyone hydrated—and wouldn’t let us pay!
Maurice Hurd spent much of the day rounding up and delivering boxes to us.
Shane from Town Fair Tire picked up boxes for us from Market Basket and arranged for more to be saved for tomorrow.
And so many of you have sent emails, messages, and words of encouragement—please know your support means **everything** to us.
Newsletter Sign-Up Glitch
We’ve learned that an update to our newsletter system has altered who is receiving updates. If you are missing our newsletters, please click this link and re-enter your information. If given a choice, select **Newsletter 2024** to stay subscribed. We’ll call the provider as soon as we can to get this fixed! That same link will also allow you to read all of our previous newsletters if you missed any!
Business & Orders Update
Phones are back up! If you called and couldn’t reach us earlier, try again!
Online orders that were already placed are packed and ready to ship or pick up— if you haven’t placed yours, use **coupon code STRONGER15** for **15% off.**
YouTube Updates: All of our video equipment and computers were damaged, so official videos may be on hold, but we are brainstorming ways to keep content coming!
Longarm Quilting: Darren has been keeping the longarms running, and finished quilts are ready for pick-up. Check your email for a notification and **call before coming by.
Sewing Machine Pick-Ups: If your machine was serviced and is ready, you should have a notification—again, **call before stopping in to pick up.
Bernina Dealership Plans
We know many are wondering—yes, Darren and I are still going to Chicago on March 15 for our Bernina training. Once we have a secure and settled shop location, we will open the dealership as planned.
We Will Recover!
We know this is a lot of information, but we also know how important it is to keep you in the loop. **Golden Anchor Quilting is NOT closing permanently!** This setback is just another chapter in our story—one that will lead to an even stronger comeback.
Our new theme song? **"Three Little Birds"—because every little thing is gonna be alright!**
With all our love and gratitude,
Louisa, Darren, and the Golden Anchor Quilting Crew
