The Day After the Flood: Finding Strength and Silver Linings
Hello Beaufiul Golden Anchor Quilting Community,
What do you do when you wake up the day after your small business has flooded? Or when another tradgedy has struck your life? How do you feel? What do you think about?
If you’re blessed, like we are, you think about the incredible community surrounding you with love and support while you work on recovery. You remember that setbacks are often just set-ups for comebacks.
This morning, I reached for my “Unstoppable” T-Rex with grabber arms t-shirt and my “Every Day I’m Brusseling” socks—because sometimes, you need a little extra strength from quirky comforts. My mind started down the anxious path of “what about this, and that, and this…,” but I caught myself and turned toward the silver linings. Some of our silver linings so far:
Yes, we will be closed for a little while, and right now, we don’t know for how long—but on the bright side, the back half of the shop has never been this clean! Servepro will work their magic, our landlord will make things right, and all will be well again. No people were harmed, no quilts were damaged, the long arm room was spared, the main shop space was spared, the luminaires were spared, and servepro was able to get there the first day to start drying things out. It could have been so much worse! I truly believe that what we focus on grows. If we dwell on the hardship, the struggle feels heavier. But if we look for the positives, new opportunities begin to emerge.
Every hurdle we’ve faced on this quilt shop journey has been met with an angel—someone from our amazing community who lifts us up and helps us move forward. So today, as I wake up the day after half of our quilt shop flooded, I’m thinking: **"I can’t wait to see the comeback from this setback!"**
Thank you for being our angels. ????
With love and determination,
