We Will Recover - A Flood Update From Golden Anchor Quilting
Dear Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community,
Today was a day we never could have anticipated. We arrived at the shop to find water pouring from a drain pipe in the bathroom wall and three inches of water covering the back half of our space. As many of you know, this area is home to our classroom, studio, office, and storage. It was heartbreaking to see, but we are holding onto the most important fact: no one was hurt, and no quilts—whether shop samples or community member projects—were damaged.
We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all of you. Your messages, offers to help, and kind words have lifted us up during this difficult time. We kept reminding ourselves, "We are okay. No people were hurt, just things. We will be okay." Of course, there were tears (and yes, a few choice words), but we are staying focused on moving forward.
What This Means for the Shop
For now, we must temporarily close our in-person retail location while Servepro, our insurance company, and the landlord assess the damage and determine the necessary repairs. We don’t yet know how long this process will take, but we promise to keep you updated.
**The Good News:**
- The longarm quilting room was not impacted, so Darren will continue finishing quilts.
- Gene will still be repairing sewing machines. We are setting up an appointment-based drop-off and pick-up system.
- The main retail space, fabric, and notions are safe!
- We still have one working computer and will do our best to keep our YouTube tutorials going.
- We are brainstorming ways to keep serving our community while navigating this challenge.
