Monday:

As we approach Veterans Day, we want to take a moment to honor the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of our veterans and active military members. At Golden Anchor Quilting, we deeply appreciate all who have served and continue to serve our country. We're so grateful to be part of a community where we can create, support, and celebrate together - and where we strive to make everyone feel at home.

To show our ongoing appreciation, we offer a 15% military discount year-round to all active duty members, veterans, and their families. Whether you're stocking up on fabric, picking out a new project, or booking a class, we want you thank you with our discount, and we want you to know that your service means the world to us.

Tuesday:

November 12 Is National Chicken Soup for the soul day! We will use this as a reminder to focus on self-care as we head into the bustling holiday season!

At 3:00pm is our monthly binding party! Register ahead to reserve your spot, and come bind things with other folks so it’s also social and self-care! We have folks available to help you learn binding as well! Folks can hand bind or machine bind in this “class.” It’s really just designed to help us all get some projects off the UFO list!

Join us live for our weekly YouTube broadcast at 6:00pm! This week we will share shop news, upcoming classes, a quilt of the week, draw our weekly $10 gift card winner for folks who paid with cash or check, teach you how to make a fabric envelope you could use to give gift cards or small gifts, and draw a winner for the sample we sew on this week’s broadcast. Wednesday:

November 13 is World Kindness Day! We believe quilting is an act of kindness and care. We so often make projects for those we care about, or for charitable purposes for a complete stranger, because we all know how good it feels to be wrapped up in something made with love. Either pop over to FaceBook and share something you’ve made out of love, or come in to the shop and share with us in person! Let’s celebrate all of the quilty kindness we create!

Wednesday is also All Inclusive Learn to Quilt Week 3! This week our new quilters will learn about prepping fabric and rotary cutting! This group of 5 ladies is so much fun!!! We can’t wait to see how their quilts turn out!

Thursday:

November 14 is National seat belt day! Stop in and we will share a quick and easy seat belt cover with you! Great gift for short folks!

We also have 12 Months of Gifts on Thursday, at 10:30am or 4:30pm! Every month we host this class to make projects that are complete by the end of class, and that make great gifts! This month we are going in-the-hoop to make a luggage tag, zipper pouch, and make-up or pencil roll up! Pattern use on class day is included, pattern is available for purchase for those who wish to make more at home!

Friday:

November 15 is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day! We are taking a twist on this one, and we will be pulling out some “last chance” kits and fabrics and putting them on sale for you to enjoy! Way better than pulling old jars of pickles out of the corner! LOL!

At 2:00pm join Dawna from Lakeside Sewing and make up to 4 machine applique towels! The pattern is a pumpkin, and the techniques and tips and tricks for machine applique are varied and plentiful! One always leaves Dawna’s classes with so much more than just the completed project!

Saturday:

November 16 is National Button Day! We are celebrating with 15% off in-stock buttons, and there will be a “scrap” kind of bin of buttons where you can fill a sandwich bag for $10! Have you ever seen how many buttons fit in a sandwich bag?

We are also continuing our t-Shirt and memory fabrics class. This week we will start to design our tops and maybe even sew some together!

This is the last day to register (free to register) for our first annual ornament swap! (See details below) You can come in person, or send ornaments from afar and join in by zoom, we will send your new ornaments to you after the event!

Sunday:

November 17 is National Homemade Bread Day! Stop by the shop for a $2 pattern for making bread bowl covers/wraps!

Sunday we finish up our scrappy flying geese doll quilts! These 4 ladies have done so well! We can’t wait to see the finished projects!

Now that you know what’s up this week, we want to help you look a little further out in your calendars and see what you will enjoy!

Our monthly pillow case classes continue to help folks learn the love of sewing, with a fun and easy beginner project! They are also a fun time for experienced sewists who just want some social sewing time! In November we Sunday November 24th at 10:30am! These classes are a great “bring a buddy” option if you have someone in your life who you have been wanting to introduce to sewing! We have had students as young as 7, and even some with English as a second language! We have brought folks from never using a sewing machine before to a beautiful pillow case in three hours! It’s SEW much fun! We have a pattern that works with regular yardage, double border prints, or panels! Class is just $15, and materials are typically less than $20! We also offer the pillow case class as a birthday party or private event, call or email for details and to book your gathering today!

Sunday, December 1 we have the ever popular CrissCross Apron class with Lynne L! The shop will be closed to the public, just folks enrolled in the class will be here! You get a private shop day and a class! What a bargain! Class includes the pattern and instructions. To make the apron it takes 1 yard of two coordinating fabrics (or the apron can be designed to be for two different seasons)! These make great gifts, and you will finish the apron in class!

Our First Annual Holiday Ornament swap is December 7th for the swap and some festive refreshments! We currently have 10 folks registered, and would love to include more! Registration will close on November 16 so we can give everyone a final head count in time to make ornaments! In case you don’t know what this is, each participant makes several of one kind of holiday ornament, and brings them to the party. Then each participant gets an ornament from each other participant. If there are 24 people participating, you come in with 24 of your ornament, and leave with 24 different ornaments made by other folks at the party! We will cap the event at 24 participants, so that it doesn’t get too overwhelming! We had a request to make virtual participation an option, and we are happy to offer this! If you can’t make it in person to the swap, just register, ship your ornaments to us before December 3, and after the swap we will ship you your newly crafted ornaments from other participants! We will figure out a way to have a zoom link to join in the fun too! (The only thing we can’t zoom are the cookies and refreshments lol)

December brings more opportunities to try our pillow case class and a new 12 months of gifts class too!
