Shop Update
We are so excited about having the classroom booked all week again! The Pumpkin Hollow table runner finishes up with edge to edge quilting on the Luminaires on Tuesday, All Wrapped Up 2.0 dachshund quilt series continues Wednesday, Open Sew on Thursday, Tippy Tote class on Friday, and the Great Stocking class on Saturday! There is still room in Tippy Tote and the Great Stocking Class!
The All New England Shop Hop continues to keep us hopping! We have now welcomed almost 500 shop hoppers! There is still time to get a magazine and participate in the shop hop! It goes through 10/31/24. Even if you aren’t planning to hop during this timeframe, having the magazine is a great resource as you travel around New England the rest of the year.
This week we had the pleasure of meeting Pamela Periera of 1440 Sewing Studio! She humbly shared with us that she was honored to be chosen as a designer for one of the shop hop magazine patterns last year, and this year! She has also designed patterns for Cut Loose Press! While she was there she signed another shop hopper’s magainze, and we gave her a half-pack-quilt kit as a congratulations for her pattern in the ANESH magazine this year! Louisa’s favorite part of her visit was the great big hug! Check out our Facebook post for photos of her visit, or ask to see the photos when you stop by the shop! We hope to be able to make a plan for Pamela to come back to Golden Anchor Quilting in the future to teach one or more of her patterns! This visit also inspired us to ask the community: do you know anyone who designs patterns, who might enjoy teaching their pattern as a class with us? Please put us in touch with them!
Before we share what is going on this week, we want to help you look a little further out in your calendars and see what you will enjoy!
Come make a Tippy Tote with us! Friday, November 8, or Saturday, November 9! This is part of our Sassy Sunflower Half-Pack-Quilt program. We just love how quickly and easily these work up! Great teacher gift! Great gift for anyone really! (Even yourself ???? )
Monday, October 21 the shop will be closed to the general public, as it is our normally closed day, but anyone can sign up to join us in our Project Linus Blanketeer Event! We have 8 spots for folks with sewing machines, and infinite spots for folks with camp chairs to knit, crochet, tie fleece, or otherwise create without machines! Light refreshments will be served, and we will offer help coordinating an order for delivered lunch should folks choose that route. Let’s see how many blankets we can make in one day! Registration is free, but we ask that you do register so that we can plan for refreshments and space!
October 27 is our next Mobile sharpening day with Rick from Absolute Edge Mobile Sharpening! Bring your scissors, shears, and pinking shears to the shop! Rick will sharpen them while you shop! Can’t make it that day, drop off your pairs to be sharpened ahead of time, and pick them up any day after the 27th! Just $10/pair! Rick does an awesome job!
We have another round of All Inclusive Learn to Quilt series! This series will run on Wednesdays from 1:30pm-4:30pm starting on October 30 and ending December 18 in time for the holidays! This six week series takes students from how to use and troubleshoot sewing machines, color theory and fabric selection, rotary cutting, piecing, trimming a quilt, and binding! The “all inclusive” part of this series title is because the series includes everything students need to complete their first quilt. From fabrics, to use of our machines, and all fabrics, batting, and backing, as well as the long arm quilting services! There is no need to buy anything else to complete a quilt in this series!
Keep your eyes on our newsletter and Facebook page for news about a big end of bolt sale the last weekend in October! We want to send the shop hop off with a BANG! Details coming soon!
T-shirt and memory fabric quilting series will run Saturdays November 2, 16, and 30th! We will take you from t-shirt/memory fabric to a complete quilt top in this three day class series!
We decided on a date for the Holiday Ornament Exchange! Join us December 7th for the swap and some festive refreshments! Registration will close on November 16 so we can give everyone a final head count in time to make ornaments! In case you don’t know what this is, each participant makes several of one kind of holiday ornament, and brings them to the party. Then each participant gets ornament from each other participant. If there are 24 people participating, you come in with 24 of your ornament, and leave with 24 different ornaments made by other folks in the party! We will cap the event at 24 participants, so that it doesn’t get too overwhelming!
This week:
Tuesday:
October 15 is “I Love Lucy Day,” did you know that one of Louisa’s nicknames is Lucy? We know this isn’t really related to the show….but come in on Tuesday, and share one of your nicknames with us, and enjoy a free fat quarter!
The Pumpkin Hollow Table runner continues this week, with students learning how to do edge-to-edge quilting on the classroom Luminaires.
Join us live for our weekly YouTube broadcast at 6:00pm! This week we will share shop news, upcoming classes, a quilt of the week, draw our weekly $10 gift card winner for folks who paid with cash or check, teach you how to make four-at-a-time flying geese, and draw a winner for the sample we sew on this week’s broadcast. Click HERE to join us live, or watch later if you happen to miss the live!
Wednesday:
October 16 is National Fossil Day! We are celebrating by giving everyone 10% off Fossil Fern fabrics!
This All Wrapped Up 2.0 Dachshund themed quilt series continues! Ann Blackburn is teaching for us, and we’ve got some wonderful lunches planned during this three week series!
Thursday:
October 17 is National Wear Something Gaudy Day! We all know Louisa is a lover of color and bold patterns! Wear something with a big bold print, or some jewelry that is simply over the top, and get 10% off your purchase!
Thursday is also Open Sew Day! We have up to 8 spots for sewing in the classroom on open sew days! These days are designed for us to work on projects of our own choosing, in a social setting, with use of classroom tools and thread! We have enjoyed watching the friendships that have developed in open sew days! Sometimes we have potluck lunches, or order out together! It’s just $10 to come when you bring your own machine, and $15 to rent one of our machines for sewing or $25 to rent a machine for embroidery.
Friday:
October 18 is National Necktie Day! We are celebrating by asking our community to share ideas for how to use neckties in sewing. Have you made anything out of neckties? Or seen a pattern with neckties that inspired you to someday try? Share your idea with us on Friday (in person or on Facebook) and you can choose a free pattern from us at the shop!
This Friday is also the first of three separate sessions of the Tippy Tote Class from our Sassy Sunflower Half-Pack-Quilts program! We will make a Tippy Tote together using one of the half-pack-quilt kits we have made up at the shop, or a bundle you pick out for yourself before the class! Register with a buddy and we will give you both 10% off your registrations!
Saturday:
October 19 is National New Friend Day! Bring someone with you to the shop who we haven’t met yet, and we will give both of you a special treat!
The Great stocking class will be on this Saturday! We wanted to get the class done in time that when you find you want to make more stockings, you have time! The stocking is wonderfully oversized, and Lynne G has all the tips and tricks to make them wonderful!
We continue to be enchanted with this amazing community and all the beauty that is created in and around us!
Thank you for your continued support! We look forward to your next visit, and hope you can join us LIVE on Tuesday’s at 6:00pm!
