This week at the shop!
Hello Beautiful Golden Anchor Quilting Community!
Can we even believe that September starts on SUNDAY? WHAT? Who authorized that? Didn't summer just start?
Well, we can't beat the marchinig of time, so we might as well join!
Here is what we have coming up this week at the shop:
Tuesday:
Tuesday is Rock Paper Scissors day! We are celebrating by hosting Rick, from Absolute Edge Mobile Sharpening on our YouTube live! He will share expert scissor care advice, and talk about how we can get the most out of each sharpening of our scissors and shears! (P.S. He will be at the shop again on Sunday September 1 for a mobile sharpening day! You can drop off your scissors or pinking shears ahead of time, and pick up after if you can't make it in on Sunday). On our YouTube live we will also be making this fun three pocket scissor keeper! This link HERE will take you to the template in case you want to sew along with us! You just sign up for her email newsletter, and you get the template for FREE! Click HERE to Join us live on YouTube Tuesday at 6:00PM! (this link keeps working after Tuesday, you can still watch afte the live! When you do, remember to like our video and subscribe to our channel!
Tuesday is also our Open Sew Day! Come play! Work on a project of your choosing in a social sewing space! P.S. You could bring crochet, or knitting, or cross stitch to our open sew days! It doens't have to be "sewing" we just love having our classroom full of creative people!
Wednesday:
Wednesday is National Bow Tie Day! We are looking for inspiration about how to upcycle ties! Perhaps from a loved one who passed away, or just to keep them out of landfills from thrift stores and make cool stuff! If you have a way you enjoy making things out of ties, please share with us, either through email or on our Facebook Page!
Thursday:
Thursday is national Cabernet Day! We have some Kimberbell FIll-in-the-blank wine bag blanks here at the shop! These are ready to embroider, and stitch closed, and VOILA! Gift! To celebrate Cabernet day, we are offering you a Buy-One-Get-One sale on these wine bags! Stop by early, we have limited quantities!
Friday:
Friday is grief awareness day. We are offering extra hugs at the shop on Friday for those in need of some TLC. We are using this day to remind one and all that everyone handles grief differently, and grief ebbs and flows over time. It's important to let yourself feel what you feel, whenver you feel it, and seek help if it gets to be more than you can manage alone. We will post some grief management resources on our Facebook page on Friday in case someone in our community, or someone we know, needs help in the space of grief.
Saturday:
Saturday is National Eat Outside Day! We are going to have some finger foods at the shop, and an opportunity to grab a snack, step outside, and take a picture of your Eating Outside moment in front of the shop! When you share these photos to our Facebook page you'll be entered in a drawing for an eat outside themed prize!
Sunday:
Sunday is a HUGE day at Golden Anchor Quilting! And all around New England and the Globe!
First, Sunday is the kickoff for the All New England Shop Hop! 91 Participating shops all over New England! We still have magazines, and we have been stuffing our goodie bags getting them ready to give out with our shops collectible quilt block! Shop hop goes from 9/1-10/31! We will have Rick from Absolute Edge here to sharpen scissors as our kick off event for the shop hop! You can drop them off early, and pick them up after the day if you can't make it in on Sunday!
Our shop specifric specials for the start of the shop hop are as follows:
There will be some golden anchors hidden in bolts of fabric around the shop. When you bring your fabric up to get it cut, if an anchor falls out, you get 10% off that cut of fabric, and you get to hide that anchor for the next person to find!
We will have some turtles hidden around the shop too! When you find one of them, you can come pick something out of our giveaway basket, which is getting loaded up with lots of fun quilty and sewing related items as I type!
Second, it is the start of our Shop Hop Hours:
Monday, closed
Tuesday - Friday 10:00am-6:00pm
Saturday - Sunday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Third, it is the launch of #ScottSentMe2024! Remember the video we posted on Facebook for the Jaftex Video Challenge? That was to introduce our shop to the world of Jaftex, and let folks know that we are participating in the #ScottSentMe2024 challenge. The video was our opportunity to win prizes as a shop! The #ScottSentMe2024 is your opportunity to win prizes as a shopper! You check out participating shops, get a photo with the #ScottSentMe2024 paper and bonus if it's with the shop's owner! You post the photo to their facebook page, and you can win fabulous prizes! This goes from 9/1-11/30!
WHEW! That's a lot for one day at our shop! We are so excited about all of this, and can't wait to see you at the shop!
