In this class, we’ll make the Louisa-Jane Pillow Case by Villa Rosa Designs—a two-in-one pattern that functions as both a drawstring tote and a standard pillowcase. The drawstring cleverly tucks into the side cuff when not in use, making this bag as practical as it is fun.

This project is perfect for Halloween candy runs, sleepovers, college laundry, gift-wrapping, or stashing cozy blankets. It’s a fast and beginner-friendly make, and a great way to enjoy sewing together with someone special.

This is a one-session class—come with a friend or your favorite kiddo!

Materials List

You’ll need to bring:

• LOUISA JANE Pattern Available at Frank's Bargain Center

• Main Fabric (Body) – 27" x WOF (¾ yard)

• Accent Fabric (Cuff) – 9" x WOF (¼ yard)

• Drawstring Fabric – 2 strips, each 2" x WOF

• Optional: ribbon or cord for drawstring instead of fabric strips

• Optional: Matching thread

• Optional: Basic sewing supplies (pins/clips, scissors, seam ripper) Or use ours!

You may bring your own machine or use one of ours. Classroom tools and thread are available.

Skills Taught

• Straight-line stitching and edge finishing

• Sewing and turning a casing

• Inserting a drawstring into a cuffed opening

• Following a beginner-friendly printed pattern

• Kid-friendly machine basics (if working with younger sewists)

Skill Level: Beginner and up
Kids must be able to follow directions and stay safe around machines and tools.

Please notify us at least 72 hours in advance if you need to cancel. If we can fill your spot, we’ll offer a full refund. Otherwise, your class fee will be converted into store credit.

Classes with fewer than 3 students may be canceled or rescheduled. Weather-related cancellations will be credited or rescheduled.
