Mondo or Midi Bag Class

Create a beautiful, sturdy bag — perfect for travel, daily adventures, or creative projects!

In this class, you’ll sew either the Mondo Bag or the Midi Bag, two fun and functional designs that come together with stunning results thanks to Quiltsmart's innovative preprinted interfacing technique. Whether you choose the larger Mondo for a travel or diaper bag, or the Midi for a project tote or purse, you’ll love how beautifully and precisely these bags stitch together!

Finished Size Options:

• Mondo Bag: 10" square base x 15" high body

• Midi Bag: 8" square base x 12" high body (Shown in class photo)

Skills You'll Practice:

• Using preprinted interfacing for perfect construction

• Working with fusible fleece or foam stabilizer

• Assembling bag panels with precision and creativity

What's Included:

Materials Needed:

• Pattern with pre-printed interfacing (choose Mondo or Midi) available for purchase at Frank's Bargain Center in the same building as Golden Anchor Quilting (P.S. when you fall in love with this bag, Frank's also has a bolt of pre-printed interfacing for you to make more bags with the same printed pattern!)

• Quilting cotton for the bag exterior:

  • Mondo Bag: About 192 2 1/2" squares (Bring scraps, cut from a 5" square pack, use a 2 1/2" strip pack cut into squares, or bring two 2 1/2" square precut packs.)

  • Midi Bag: About 112 2 1/2" squares (Bring scraps, cut from a 5" square pack, use a 2 1/2" strip pack cut into squares, or bring two 2 1/2" square precut packs.)

• 1 1/4 yards quilting cotton for the bag lining

• 1 1/4 yards fusible fleece or foam stabilizer (available at the shop)

• Coordinating thread (optional if you want specific color matches)

Tools You Can Bring (or Use Our Classroom Supplies):

• Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler

• Pins or clips

• Chalk pencil or fabric marking pen

• Tube Turner

Skill Level:
Confident Beginner and Up.
Students must be able to operate a sewing machine independently, use a rotary cutter safely, and follow basic project instructions.

Sewing Machines:
Bring your own machine in good working order, or rent one of ours for $10.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your attendance:

• If you notify us at least 72 hours in advance by call or text, and we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist, a refund will be issued.

• Otherwise, a store credit for a future class will be provided.

• No refunds (only store credits) are available if you cancel less than 72 hours before class.

If we need to cancel the class:

• If fewer than 3 students are enrolled 72 hours prior to the class, we reserve the option to cancel and issue store credit.

• If weather forces cancellation, we will make every effort to reschedule for a time that works for all enrolled students, or issue store credit if you are unable to attend the rescheduled date.

By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
